27 highly prestigious national and international brands to show off their 2019 collections
More fashion, more days and more countries down the catwalk at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2018
The runway at the Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW) is about to switch on its spotlights and become the centre of the world’s attention in wedding fashion. Quality, innovation and fashion will be the hallmarks of the 27 top national and international firms taking part in Europe’s most important bridal fashion week, whose 2018 edition will be adding one more day. This way, not only will new brands be making their début, but world famous designers such as Reem Acra will be showing off their new collections for 2019.
Pavilion 1 in Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue, in Plaza de España, will be the main stage for the latest creations from 27 leading national and international firms who will be presenting over 600 new items from their collections that will set the trends in 2019 in clothing and accessories for the bride and groom, ceremonies and communions. This year, BBFW is extending its celebration with one more day on the runway: the fashion shows will begin on 23 April and continue through Friday, the 27th, coinciding with the opening of the trade fair which is to run until the 29th.
On 23 April, Pronovias will be modelling its collection in the Italian Pavilion at the Montjuïc venue, and on the night of Tuesday the 24th it will be the turn of Rosa Clarà, this time at the emblematic Modernista venue of Sant Pau, preceded by Jesús Peiró, Cristina Tamborero and Jordi Dalmau on the BBFW’s main runway. The New Talent Show will be held on Wednesday the 25th. With the presentation of brand new proposals, this is the opportunity for BBFW to exhibit talented new professionals and the future of bridal fashion, with young designers such as Alejandro Resta, Mar Rodriguez, Laura Riera and the Italian Simone Marulli taking part. Modelling their collections on the same day will be Sophie et Voilà Collection, the Italian designer Carlo Pignatelli, Isabel Sanchís and Inmaculada García. At night, during Barcelona Bridal Night, the celebrated Lebanese designer Reem Acra will be showing 30 outfits from her Spring 2019 collection.
On Thursday the 26th, it will be the Belgian firm Marylise & Rembo Styling on the runway, along with Isabel Zapardiez, Ana Torres, the French firm Cymbeline, Marco & María, Matilde Cano, Esther Noriega and finally YolanCris. The runway’s final day, the 27th, will see the American firm Maggie Sottero showing its collection, plus the menswear collection of Ramón Sanjurjo, Carla Ruiz, Sonia Peña and the American firm Demetrios.
The Director of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, Estermaria Laruccia, affirms that “creativity, quality and innovation will be the protagonists of an international event which attracts the top-name brands in a sector that plays a leading role in the fashion world. In this year’s edition we will be unveiling not only the top trends in high design for the coming season, but also the key to a future marked by digitalisation, differentiation and globalisation”.
Reem Acra, the star of Barcelona Bridal Night
Reem Acra, the Lebanese-born, New York-based designer who will be the main attraction of Barcelona Bridal Night, is undoubtedly one of the world’s brightest stars in bridal fashion and party wear. In 1997 she launched her Reem Acra New York brand, and in 2001 her ready-to-wear line. Since then, both international politicians and celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé or Halle Berry have worn her creations down the red carpet at the Oscars, Grammys and Golden Globes, among other events. Her designs are sold in the most exclusive stores in the world, such as Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue in the United States, and in more than 20 countries.
With the participation of these big names and the plan to include new surprises in the event and down the runway in the coming weeks, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, organised by Fira de Barcelona, will once again become a global benchmark for the industry, reaffirming its reputation as the hub of the international market.
The trade fair will exhibit in the same location – Pavilions 1 and 2 of Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue, in Plaza España – the proposals of over 350 brands, more than half of which are international, who will show their latest in bridal wear to buyers, the media and guests from around the world. What is more, BBFW has already confirmed the presence of a large number of key buyers from over 50 countries and some of the finest shops in Europe, the United States and Japan, and many more.
